Brendan Rodgers’s team selection today did two things. One was to rest key players before a must-win trip to Madrid during the week in the Champions League. The other was to assess who will take over for Reo Hatate for at least the rest of this year.
We are of course assuming that Rodgers’s team picks itself for all but one position but we just don’t see any changes anywhere else in the starting eleven.
The main candidates for the position are Turnbull, Bernardo, Holm and Iwata. Everyone has managed to have a good look at Bernado and Turnbull over the past two games and fans want to see more of Holm and Iwata too.
Rodgers seems to see something in Bernardo but Turnbull’s goal record has to make him the obvious choice for Tuesday night. Whoever gets the nod needs to show some consistency with form and in the big games.
