Celtic are preparing for Livingston after Christmas in what has been a chaotic season full of every layer of drama you could imagine, fans have looked to this squad of players for a sign that they’re up for this title fight.

Performances have almost been there, but soon dwindled as the games have progressed.

Though they ended that run of four consecutive losses with a well-deserved win over Aberdeen at the weekend.

The relief on Nancy’s face was clear, with the players showing that grit which will be crucial over a busy run of fixtures.

But are Celtic ready for a title race? Benjamin Nygren certainly knows so.

He assessed that much-needed victory over the Dons and showed confidence in Nancy’s attacking style of play.

In the press conference ahead of this weekend’s game against Livingston, he said:

“I think we showed it wasn’t just a win, it was a very good performance with a lot of chances. In some of the other games, we’ve created a lot of chances without scoring.”

“The feeling on the pitch was very good, we really attacked them.”

“No one in the club is used to losing games, especially that many in a row. It was a difficult period but that’s behind us now.”

The Swede revealed the squad’s methods of overcoming the poor run of form and returning to winning ways:

“Stay together, train hard, just try to focus on what we can do to win games.”

But the 24-year-old didn’t stop there. Celtic are six points behind Hearts with a game in hand, and he didn’t shy away when asked about the threat they pose.

Nygren issued a simple but striking statement as he laid down the gauntlet on the league leaders:“We will hunt them down.”

Statements like that have to be backed up by performances on the pitch. Celtic don’t look like the finished article by any means, but this team are eager to capitalise on the weekend’s win and kick on for the rest of the season.

They face a struggling Livingston on Saturday, but this squad know not to underestimate anyone as they continue to focus on themselves.
