Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis was back in training at Lennoxtown this morning.
The Greek forward was nowhere to be seen on Wednesday evening as the Hoops thrashed St Mirren 4-0.
In recent weeks, there has been much speculation around Giakoumakis’ future as he has been linked with various moves away from the club as J-League club Urawa Red Diamonds appear to be the likely frontrunner.
Before the kick-off, Postecoglou confirmed that both Giakoumakis and Cameron Carter-Vickers were feeling the effects of the 2-0 win over Kilmarnock in the semi-final of the Viaplay Cup and were left out for that reason.
The Scottish Cup tie against Morton may be the prime opportunity to let Kyogo get a rest and give the former VVV-Venlo striker gametime.
Having not scored since October, he broke his scoring drought at the weekend against Killie. Even though there have been so many rumours about his future he is still giving his all when he comes on the pitch and looking to make an impact.
There is still plenty of time left in the window but Celtic appears to be closing in on what will likely be his replacement at the club as they are close to agreeing with a deal with South Korean striker Oh Hyeon-Gyu.
