James Forrest has scored over 100 goals for Celtic. The winger has also made over 400 appearances for his boyhood team and today he netted his 103rd goal for the Hoops.

His latest should have come at Easter Road last week when he headed onto the crossbar to deny Celtic all 3 points in a bore draw. His goal today was from a header, something the player admits is a rarity of his 100+ goals.

He said: “I’ve had a few chances this season and I’ve not managed to score so there is relief and I’m buzzing to score and get off the mark this season. I’ve not scored many with my head but I will take anything.”

Forrest came off the bench to score in his 15th consecutive season for Celtic but it was Luis Palma who stole the show from the bench, bagging a screamer from outside the box before putting a cross on a plate for Forrest to head home.

Amazingly, James Forrest’s place in the Celtic squad brings moans from some quarters.  At 32 with a few years still left on his contract Forrest could easily break a few more records and write his name further into Celtic folklore.

No matter what happens in the future, the Forrest name will be inscribed beside Celtic playing greats like Paul McStay, Bobby Lennox, Jimmy McGrory, Jimmy Quinn & Patsy Gallacher who all scored in at least 15 consecutive seasons. Jimmy McMenemy scored in 18 seasons in a row.
